Celebrating 72 Years Serving Our Members

72 years ago today, on October 19, 1953, 12 dedicated educators came together to form Tempe School Teachers Credit Union. Their goal was simple yet powerful: to help fellow teachers and community members reach their financial goals.

Our very first “office” was nothing more than a locked cash box in a teacher’s closet at Tempe High School. It may have been small, but it represented something much bigger: trust, community, and a belief in people helping people.

As membership grew, so did our roots in the community. By the early 1960s, we moved into a small office at Rural and Apache - renting the space for just $95 a month. In the 1970s, we relocated to a house on Southern Avenue, sharing the space with a realtor. Many long-time members still fondly remember visiting us there.

In 1976, we simplified our name and continued to expand - opening our Mill Avenue branch in 1988, doubling its size in 2003, and adding branches in Chandler and Gilbert in 2006 to better serve our members.

In 2013, we became Landings Credit Union - a name that reflects both our growth and our deep connection to the broader community we serve.

From a humble cash box to a thriving cooperative with over $250 million in assets and more than 15,000 members across Arizona, Landings Credit Union remains committed to what started it all: supporting our members’ financial journeys with care, trust, and a personal touch.
